Colorful City & Hospital Visit: Melaka City, Malaysia

Colorful City & Hospital Visit: Melaka City, Malaysia

Our visit to Melaka City, a colorful town on the Strait of Melaka, was interrupted by Sawyer’s three day hospital visit. He woke up very hot one morning and said that he felt like his “brain was out of place.” When you have a fever in SE Asia it is very important to be sure that it isn’t the result of one of the mosquito-borne illnesses that are in the area (malaria, dengue fever, etc.) By the time we reached the hospital his temperature was nearly 105 and wasn’t being controlled by medicine, so they admitted him just to be safe while they ran tests. After a stressful and terrifying few days, he recovered and we left the hospital. I hope I return to Melaka some day (minus the hospital visit), as it was one of my favorites.

Georgetown, Penang: Malaysia

Georgetown, Penang: Malaysia

We’d considered staying put in Saigon for the last couple months of the trip, but instead decided to forge ahead to Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. And I’m so glad that we did. Malaysia was one of my favorite places. Colorful, funky, and an fascinating mix of people and cultures. Here are the photos from Georgetown, Penang.

Brian’s Villa : Koh Samui, Thailand

I’m finally finishing up the long neglected project of pulling together all the best photos from our Southeast Asia trip. I apologize to those who have an email subscription to this blog. You’ll be getting a few emails in a row while I get them all posted!

These are the images from our time staying at Brian’s Villa. Brian is a friend and colleague of Eric, and we had a chance to meet up with him and some other friends in Koh Samui to relax and recharge before continuing on our adventure.
